History

Yazu-Kōkō-mae Station opened on 1 October 1996 as a newly built infill station on the third-sector Wakasa Railway's Wakasa Line, located between Kōge and Inaba-Funaoka. In August 2020 the platform shelter was renovated in a wood-grain style under the supervision of industrial designer Eiji Mitooka, whose work also redesigned the line's sightseeing rolling stock.

Notes

Yazu-Kōkō-mae has no station building and no ticket machine, but it is classed as a kan'i itaku (simplified commission) station because a private shop in front of Yazu High School sells tickets on the railway's behalf. As its name — "in front of Yazu High School" — indicates, the station adjoins Tottori Prefectural Yazu High School; Yazu Town Kōge-Nishi Elementary School is also nearby.
