History

Yase-Hieizanguchi Station opened on 27 September 1925 as "Yase Station" on the Eizan Electric Railway's Heitan (flat) Line, then operated by Kyoto Dentō. Keifuku Electric Railroad took over the business on 2 March 1942, making it a station on the Eizan Main Line; it was renamed Yase Yūen Station on 1 August 1965, and on 1 April 1986 Keifuku Electric Railroad transferred the Eizan Main Line to Eizan Electric Railway, making it a station of that company. Yase Yūen, the amusement park that opened in front of the station, was later renewed successively as "Sports Valley Kyoto" and "Mori no Yūenchi," but closed in 2001, and the following year, on 10 March 2002, the station was renamed to its present name, Yase-Hieizanguchi. Its features include a comb-shaped arrangement of three platform faces and two tracks, a wooden station building dating from opening, and a dome-shaped roof (a train shed) characteristic of a terminal station. It carries station number E08.

Notes

The wooden station building from opening and a dome-shaped roof (train shed) befitting a terminal station survive within the station grounds; it is normally unstaffed today, but in a distinctive arrangement, staff are posted and the ticket vending machine operates only during busy periods.
