Yanagawa Station opened on 1 July 1988 as a station of the Abukuma Express Line.
Notes
Yanagawa Station carries the catchphrase "Birthplace of the Date clan". The Abukuma Express head office stands on the south side of the station along with the company's rolling-stock depot, and the station is the operational core of the line — some services start or terminate here. Platform tickets and tickets as far as the next station, Yanagawa Kibōnomori Kōen-mae, were formerly sold here as Edmondson-style card tickets.
