History

Yamazaki Station is a railway station on the Meitetsu Bisai Line in Sobue-cho, Yamazaki Nakayashiki, Inazawa, Aichi Prefecture, operated by Meitetsu (Nagoya Railroad). It opened on 25 January 1930. The station stands 17.3 kilometers from Yatomi, the line's starting point. Service was temporarily suspended during the Pacific War before being restored, and the station became unstaffed in 1952, with ticket sales and ticket-gate duties later delegated to a Meitetsu Kyoeisha kiosk under a station-agency arrangement. It remains unattended today, with one side platform on a single bidirectional track, automated ticket machines, and Manaca turnstiles. In fiscal 2013 it averaged 1,107 boardings and alightings a day.

Notes

Every November and December, the nearby Sobue Icho Koyo Matsuri (ginkgo-leaf festival), which draws roughly 170,000 visitors, crowds the station enough that temporary ticket windows and portable toilets are set up there.
