History
Yamanishi Station is a station on the Iyo Railway's Takahama Line that opened on 1 November 1927. At opening it stood northeast of the present-day Nitta High School, with the track drawing an S-curve to avoid the settlement of Furumitsu village. At the time of electrification on 1 May 1931, alignment improvement work—curve easing and straightening—was carried out from around present-day Nishi-Kinuyama Station to this station, and the station was relocated to its present site. Part of the abandoned former route remains today as an alley within a residential area. It is a staffed station with an island platform serving two tracks, and in the postwar single-track era trains crossed here. Its station number is IY05.
Notes
The station was relocated from its old track alignment as part of the improvement work carried out with the 1931 electrification, and part of the abandoned route remains today as an alley in the residential area of the Furumitsu district.
