Location

History

Yamajō Station (S05) is on the Sangi Railway Sangi Line in Yamajō-chō, Yokkaichi, Mie, 7.0 km from the line's terminus at Kintetsu-Tomida. It opened on 23 July 1931 and consists of a single island platform serving two tracks, linked to the station building by a level crossing. On 16 April 2014 a fire believed to be of suspicious origin destroyed about 50 m² of the station building, including its rest room and toilets.

Notes

Yamajō's front plaza is unusually large because the station once hosted a bus garage; the garage has since moved to the depot at JR Tomida Station, and the former garage site is now used as parking for rail passengers. The station is still a bus terminus, and space is provided there for buses turning back.
