History
Yamada Station opened on 9 July 1932 as Mino-Yamada Station, when the Railway Ministry's Etsumi-Nan Line opened between Gujo-Hachiman and Mino-Yatomi (today's Gujo-Yamato), with passenger and freight handling starting together. Freight handling ended on 10 October 1959. From 19 February 1960 the station came under the Gujo-Hachiman stationmaster, and on 1 October 1960 baggage handling also ended, leaving it unstaffed. On 11 December 1986 the line passed from Japanese National Railways to the third-sector Nagaragawa Railway, and the station took its present name, Yamada, that day. It is a ground-level station with one side platform, still unstaffed, with bicycle parking by the entrance, in Kawabe, Yamato-cho, Gujo City, near National Route 156 and the Nagara River.
Notes
The station's current name dates only to 11 December 1986: it was one of more than a dozen stations on the line renamed all at once, the same day Japanese National Railways handed the route to the Nagaragawa Railway.
