History
Yakuri-sanjō Station is a station of the Shikoku Cable's Yakuri Cable Line, located in Mure-chō Mure, Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. It was established on 15 February 1931 with the opening of the Yakuri Mountain Railway's line between Yakuri-tozanguchi Station and this station. Operations were suspended on 11 February 1944 due to wartime material requisitioning, and the line was formally abolished on 25 December 1960. It was later reopened as the new Yakuri Cable (Shikoku Cable) line between Yakuri-tozanguchi and Yakuri-sanjō on 28 December 1964, and it has operated continuously since then. It serves as a pilgrimage line to Yakuriji, the 85th temple of the Shikoku eighty-eight-temple pilgrimage.
Notes
Yakuri-sanjō Station is the northernmost railway station not only in Kagawa Prefecture but in all of Shikoku.
