Location

History

Yagoto Nisseki Station opened on 6 October 2004 as a Meijō Line stop in Nagoya's Shōwa Ward, taking its name from the Japanese Red Cross Aichi Medical Center Nagoya Daini Hospital (Yagoto Nisseki), which adjoins the station; Exit 2 is the hospital-side exit and has two oversized lifts. The station entrance sits partway up the Yagoto hillside, leaving an unusually long walk in to the concourse, and a clinic building adjoins one of the exits. Platform-edge doors entered service on Track 2 on 13 December 2020 and on Track 1 on 20 December 2020. Patient and student traffic — Nanzan University's main campus is nearby — drove daily boardings from 3,633 in fiscal 2004 to 7,219 in fiscal 2017.

Notes

Yagoto Nisseki's entrance sits partway up the Yagoto hillside, which leaves an unusually long walk from the entrance in to the concourse for a subway station, and the interior is finished in brick-style tile and limestone in deference to that hillside setting.
