History

Yada Station opened on 2 April 1905 as the original terminus of the Seto Line (today the Meitetsu Seto Line); delays to the Yada-gawa bridging works meant the original stop was located elsewhere. The station was unstaffed for many decades. With the opening of Nagoya Dome in 1997 Yada became its closest railway station, prompting installation of a prefabricated station building and extra signage; express and semi-express services made temporary stops on event days. After the Nagoya Municipal Subway Meijō Line and the Yutorīto-line guideway bus opened Nagoya Dome-mae Yada Station, Yada lost that distinction. The Owari-Seto-side building was rebuilt slightly to the east on 1 March 2004 because of road works on the north side of the station, and a station remote-monitoring control system was introduced in 2006 together with Tranpass and automatic ticket gates.

Notes

When the Seto Line opened, construction of the bridge over the Yada River was not finished in time, so the original Yada Station was set up temporarily at a location different from its present site.
