Location

History

Watarigawa Station opened on 1 April 1961 when JNR added a stop between Chōmonkyō and Mitani on the Yamaguchi Line, intended for unstaffed diesel-railcar passenger service only and located 35.5 km from Shin-Yamaguchi. Operation passed to JR West with JNR's privatisation on 1 April 1987. The station has a single side platform, lying to the right of the track as one faces Masuda, with no station building and only a small platform shelter for waiting passengers; the platform is entered directly through two openings, one at its Masuda end and one beside the shelter. There is no ticket-vending machine. Watarigawa is administered remotely by Shin-Yamaguchi Station and sits between Japan National Route 9 and Yamaguchi Prefectural Route 311.

Notes

Although it is on the JR West Yamaguchi Line, the station has no ticket-vending machine and is reached only through two openings that give direct access to its single platform.
