History
Waridashi Station opened as a station on the Asanogawa Electric Railway on 10 May 1925. It became a station on Hokuriku Railroad's Asanogawa Line when Hokuriku Railroad merged with Asanogawa Electric Railway on 1 October 1945. Station operations were contracted out on 1 April 1971, and the passing facilities were removed on 26 November 1974. Its station number is A05, and it operates as a ground-level station with a single platform serving one track and business-consignment staffing, with attendants posted only during the weekday morning and evening rush. On 25 April 2025, as part of the Asanogawa Line's 100th-anniversary events, the station's nameboards and related signage were updated to read "Waridashi: last station in the country in gojūon order," and the secondary station name "Asanogawa-Chūgakkō-mae" was added.
Notes
When every railway station in Japan is sorted in the Japanese gojūon syllabary order, Waridashi (わ) comes last — a distinction the operator marked in April 2025 by updating the station signage with a "last station in Japan, alphabetically" plaque.
