Location
History
Wakuya Station opened on 28 October 1912 as a station of the private Senboku Light Railway. The company was nationalized in 1919, making it a station on the Senboku Light Railway Line, and it was incorporated into the Ishinomaki Line when the line was renamed in 1922. Freight handling ended in 1972 and parcel handling in 1984, and the station passed to JR East at the privatisation of the national railway on 1 April 1987. The station building was renovated on 25 March 2013, and the station became unstaffed all day on 13 March 2021. Kesennuma Line trains through-running from Maeyachi Station also stop there.
