History

Ushigahara Station was established as an unstaffed station on 15 December 1960 when the Japanese National Railways Etsumi-Hoku Line opened between Echizen-Handō Station and Kadohara Station. It became a JR West station with the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. Heavy rain on 18 July 2004 suspended the entire Etsumi-Hoku Line, and service resumed between Miyama and Echizen-Ōno stations on 11 September. The stop for the replacement bus service was placed in front of the JA Inuigawa branch office. Located at Ushigahara, Ōno, Fukui Prefecture, it is a ground-level halt with a single side platform serving one track on the right-hand side facing towards Kuzuryūko, and since opening it has been an unstaffed station managed by the Kanazawa Branch Office, equipped only with a simple platform and waiting shelter.
