History

Ushibuchi Station is a station on the Iyo Railway's Yokogawara Line that opened on 4 October 1899 in Ushibuchi, Tōon, Ehime Prefecture, as "Takubo Station." It was renamed Ushibuchi Station on 1 November 1966, and its former name was passed on to a new Takubo Station that opened the following year. It is an unstaffed station with a single side platform serving one track, said to be the least-used station on the Iyo Railway's suburban lines. At the same time, like the other stations within Tōon, its ridership has shown a slight recent increase. The surrounding area is a maze of narrow lanes dotted with houses and fields, and nearby are Tōon Municipal Minami-Yoshii Elementary School and Ukishima Shrine, among others. Its station number is IY20.
