History
Urayama Station was established on 5 November 1922, when the Kurobe Railway opened the 10.1 km section between Mikkaichi Station (today's JR Kurobe Station) and Oritate Station. On 1 January 1943, railway companies within Toyama Prefecture were consolidated centered on Toyama Electric Railway, and the station was assigned to the Kurobe Line of Toyama Chihō Railway (Chitetsu); on 11 November of the same year, the former Kurobe Railway line's voltage was raised from 600 V to 1,500 V, and with platform renovation also completed, through service from Dentetsu-Toyama Station began. Freight operations ended on 11 May 1968, and the station became unstaffed on 1 August 1997. The 26 February 2015 timetable revision removed it as a limited-express stop, and from 1 April 2021 local trains originating at this station bound for Dentetsu-Toyama have operated.
Notes
Urayama's single island platform is long enough for three cars, but rolling stock such as the 16010 and 20020 series have doors only at the carriage ends, leaving the rearmost door beyond the platform — so guards lock it manually before arrival.
