History

Uminokōen-Minamiguchi Station is a station in Uminokōen, Kanazawa-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, that began operating on 5 July 1989 together with the opening of the Yokohama Seaside Line (Kanazawa Seaside Line). Its station number is 12. It is an elevated station with an island platform serving two tracks, operated as an unstaffed station with the station building beneath the platform. Its ticket vending machines were renewed and put into service on 24 March 2005, and on 7 September of the following year, 2006, an elevator connecting the ticket gates and the platform entered service, advancing accessibility. It has the fewest passengers of any station on the Seaside Line, but becomes heavily crowded during the shellfish-gathering season and fireworks displays at the adjacent Umi-no-Kōen (Sea Park).
