History

Umemoto Station is a station on the Iyo Railway's Yokogawara Line that opened on 1 May 1935 in Minami-Umemoto-chō, Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture. On 11 May 1981 it was relocated 168 meters toward Yokogawara, reaching its present location. It is a ground-level, staffed station with one island platform serving two tracks, and is designated, together with Iyo-Tachibana and Kume stations, a key transport hub on the Yokogawara Line. When a personal-injury accident or similar incident occurs on the Yokogawara Line, trains are turned back at this station or at Kume Station. A loop bus serving the Shikoku Cancer Center calls at the station forecourt, and the station carries the subsidiary name "Shikoku Cancer Center-mae." Its station number is IY18.
