History
Umegasawa Station is on JR East's Tōhoku Main Line in Tome, Miyagi Prefecture. It opened on 20 July 1943 as a signal station and was promoted to a station on 2 March 1953. It was unstaffed from 1 December 1984 and came under JR East on 1 April 1987. The wooden mortar-finished station building was replaced by a simple concrete structure in 2001. Two opposed side platforms with a footbridge connect to the station building; the double-tracking of September 1958 gave the station a two-platform, three-track layout, but the middle track inside the island platform has since been removed and fenced off.
Notes
Umegasawa Station stands in the mountains. The Hasama residents' bus — a combined community and school bus service — calls at the "Umegasawa Station Front" stop; boarding requires the rider to raise a hand to flag the bus down, and alighting takes place in front of the post office.
