History

Umatate Station opened on March 7, 1925, as a stop on the Kominato Line in what is now the city of Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. The station is operated by the private Kominato Railway and sits 12.4 kilometers from the line's western terminus at Goi. The wooden station building, which dates from opening, has remained in service for a century and is now unattended. The station has two opposed side platforms connected by a level crossing.
