History

Uebayashi Station is a station on the Iga Railway Iga Line at Uebayashi, Iga, Mie Prefecture, opened on 25 May 1926. Its operator changed repeatedly thereafter: to the Iga Electric Railway on 19 December of the same year, to the Osaka Electric Tramway Iga Line on 31 March 1929, to the Sangū Express Electric Railway on 30 September 1931, to the Kansai Express Railway on 15 March 1941, and, through wartime merger, to Kintetsu (Kinki Nippon Railway) on 1 June 1944. Service was suspended on 1 June 1945 and resumed on 15 March of the following year, 1946. On 1 October 2007 it became a station of the newly spun-off Iga Railway, separated from Kintetsu. It is an unstaffed station with a single side platform serving one track and no station building; passengers enter directly onto the platform from an entrance at its Iga-Kambe end.

Notes

A survey on 9 November 2021 recorded daily ridership of just 5, the lowest of any station on the Iga Railway.
