History

Uchiyama Station opened as a station of the Kurobe Railway on 21 November 1923. On 1 January 1943, railway companies within Toyama Prefecture were consolidated and folded into the newly formed Toyama Chihō Railway, becoming a station on that company's Kurobe Line. On 11 November of the same year the former Kurobe Railway line's overhead-wire voltage was raised from 600 V to 1,500 V, and through service from Dentetsu-Toyama Station began. Freight operations ended on 1 September 1967. On 25 August 2024, torrential rain temporarily flooded the station grounds, forcing a train stopped there to abandon its run. It is now a station on the Toyama Chihō Railway Main Line, an unstaffed station with two opposed platforms serving two tracks.
