History

Uchinoda Station opened on 28 October 1941 as an intermediate stop when the Railway Ministry extended the Shibushi Line north from Aburatsu to Kitagō, which became the line's northern terminus. On 8 May 1963 the Shibushi–Kitagō section of the Shibushi Line was absorbed into the Nichinan Line and the route took that name. Baggage handling at Uchinoda ended on 1 October 1957. The station sits 37.1 kilometres from the line's starting point at Minami-Miyazaki, in the rural Ōfuji area of Kitagō, Nichinan, in Miyazaki Prefecture, and has no station building, only a small platform shelter near the centre of the single side platform. JR Kyushu took over on 1 April 1987 with the privatisation of JNR.
