History
Tsurugashima Station opened on 10 April 1932 on the Tōbu Tōjō Line, roughly midway between Ikebukuro and Yorii at the 37.0 km mark. The present overhead station building, with two side platforms and exits on both sides of the tracks, was completed in 1983, and barrier-free work carried out in 2009 and 2010 added a multipurpose toilet and an elevator, brought into use in March 2010. Station numbering as TJ-24 was introduced on 17 March 2012, and the March 2023 timetable revision made the station a Rapid Express stop after the line's older Rapid service was abolished; through-running via the Tōkyū Shin-yokohama Line, Sōtetsu Shin-yokohama Line, Sōtetsu Main Line and Sōtetsu Izumino Line also began at that time.
Notes
Although the station carries Tsurugashima's name and sits on the city boundary, the city office lies closer to the adjacent Wakaba Station rather than to Tsurugashima itself.
