History

Tsurubunkadaigakumae Station was opened on 16 November 2004 as a petitioned station on the Fujikyuko Line, intended to anchor redevelopment around Tsuru University. Suica IC-card service began on 14 March 2015. On 1 April 2022 the line was transferred from Fuji Kyuko to its newly created subsidiary Fuji Sanroku Electric Railway (Fujikyuko Line). From 8 October 2025 the station's approach melodies switched to the Tsuru University songs "Tsuru wa universe" (downbound) and "Hana no kage" (upbound).

Notes

Despite being the newest stop on the Fujikyuko Line, Tsurubunkadaigakumae is the only station in the city of Tsuru where every train—including limited expresses such as the "Fuji Excursion," "Fujisan," and "Mount Fuji View Express"—stops; the platform is only long enough for four cars, so the five-car E257 series sets working the seasonal Fuji Excursion keep the doors of their rear car closed.
