History

Tsugaru-Iizume Station opened on 15 July 1930 as a station on the Tsugaru Railway Line. Contracted staffing began on 10 November 1956, and a newly built station building was completed on 15 December 1957. On 15 November 2004, the consolidation of block sections between Tsugaru-Goshogawara and Kanagi ended train-handling duties at the station, leaving it unstaffed, and its semaphore signal was abolished at the same time. Originally an island platform serving two tracks, it is now an at-grade station with a single platform and track, using the former No. 2 track.

Notes

In November 2021, 3,200 volumes from the library of railway writer Naoki Tanemura, along with his desk and other belongings, were donated, and the former station office and night-duty room were converted into the "Railway Writer Naoki Tanemura Train Travel Library."
