History
Tsugaru-Hamana Station opened on 10 December 1960 as a station on Japanese National Railways' Tsugaru Line. From opening it was an unstaffed station handling only diesel-railcar passenger traffic, and it became a station of East Japan Railway Company (JR East) at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. On 1 June 2019, following the unstaffing of Mimmaya Station, its managing station was changed to Aomori Station. Heavy-rain damage on 3 August 2022 suspended service between Kanita and Mimmaya, including this station, and a replacement bus service has run since 22 August. At a signing ceremony on 10 June 2025 it was agreed that the station would be closed on 1 April 2027. The station is an unstaffed, at-grade station with a single side platform serving one track.
