History

Tsūdō Station opened on 31 December 1912 as a station of the Ashio Railway in what is now the city of Nikkō, Tochigi Prefecture; the Ashio Copper Mine is five minutes away on foot. The line is now operated by the third-sector Watarase Keikoku Railway, and the station has a single side platform serving traffic in both directions. In 2009 the national government granted the station building and platform protection as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
