History

Tsuchiyama Station opened on 23 December 1888 with the San'yō Railway's line between Akashi and Himeji, in what is now the town of Harima, Kako District, Hyōgo Prefecture; the railway was nationalised in 1906 and the route was designated the San'yō Main Line in 1909. With the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987, the station passed to the West Japan Railway Company. The station has one side platform and one island platform with the building on an elevated deck; Track 1 carries up-direction trains toward Sannomiya and Osaka, Track 3 carries down-direction trains toward Kako-gawa and Himeji, and the middle Track 2 is bi-directional and used flexibly. Station numbering JR-A77 was added in March 2018.
