History

Toyotsu-Ueno Station opened on 1 July 1943 as a station on Kansai Express Railway's Nagoya Line in present-day Tsu, Mie Prefecture, replacing two earlier nearby stations, Ise-Ueno and Toyotsu-Ura, which Ise Railway had opened on 10 September 1915 and which closed on the day the new station came into use. The operator was absorbed into Kintetsu on 1 June 1944 through wartime consolidation. PiTaPa IC card acceptance was added on 1 April 2007. The station, designated E35, lies 59.8 kilometres from the line start at Kintetsu Nagoya Station. It has two island platforms serving four tracks, the two inner tracks being the main lines and the two outer tracks passing loops; trains can be overtaken here, and the platforms take trains of three cars, although Platform 4 can accommodate a six-car train stopping with an overhang. The station is staffed.

Notes

Toyotsu-Ueno was created in 1943 by consolidating two earlier nearby stations - Ise-Ueno and Toyotsu-Ura - that Ise Railway had opened along its line in 1915 and that closed on the day the new station came into use.
