History

Toyonaga Station is a station on the Dosan Line of Shikoku Railway Company (JR Shikoku) that opened on 28 October 1934 in Higashidoi, Ōtoyo, Nagaoka District, Kōchi Prefecture. On 20 February 1962 a major landslide occurred between it and the neighboring Tosa-Iwahara Station; a temporary restoration was completed on 26 March of that year, and the line was switched onto a new alignment the following year. The station became an unstaffed, simple-commission station on 1 February 1984, and passed to JR Shikoku at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. It reverted to a directly managed station on 1 March 1988, but was again unstaffed as of 1 September 2010. Express and limited-express trains once stopped here, but today only local trains call. Its station number is D29.

Notes

A major landslide in February 1962 between the station and Tosa-Iwahara Station led the Dosan Line to undergo a temporary restoration before being switched onto a new alignment the following year.
