History

Tomakomai Station opened on 1 August 1892 in what is now Tomakomai, Hokkaido. It is operated today by the Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido) and serves as a junction of three lines — the Muroran Main Line, the Chitose Line, and the Hidaka Main Line. The station is an above-ground structure with two platforms serving four tracks, and is currently a stop for the Hokuto and Suzuran limited expresses. It was also served by the Cassiopeia and Hokutosei services, both of which have since been discontinued.
