History
Tokushige Station opened on 27 March 2011 as the new terminus of the Sakura-dōri Line, capping the 4.2 km extension from Nonami. Construction began in 2006 in two work zones: the western first zone was handled by a Shimizu–Nishimatsu–Tekken joint venture and the eastern second zone by a Kashima–Toda–Tōkyū joint venture. Both used cut-and-cover methods, and the originally scheduled opening was brought forward. The line's depot is located directly under the Tokushige Intersection just south of the station, with the station itself sitting under Tokushige-Ekimae Intersection. Operations passed from the Sakurahonmachi District Office to the dedicated Sakura-dōri Line Operations Office in July 2022.
Notes
The station has the first double-slip switch adopted anywhere on the Nagoya Municipal Transportation Bureau's network, installed at the point where the depot-entry track and the lead spur into the Tokushige depot cross.
