History

Togano Station began passenger and freight operations on 30 March 1924 as a Railway Ministry station. Operation of the Tosa Lime Industry's Ōhirayama Mine dedicated line was approved on 6 July 1942, and on 28 June 1960 wagonload freight handling was limited to shipments to and from that dedicated line. Parcel handling ended on 1 February 1984, and the station was inherited by JR Shikoku and JR Freight at the JNR privatization of 1 April 1987. JR Freight's station and the dedicated line were abolished on 1 October 1992; the station became unstaffed on 1 October 2010, its building was renovated in April 2017, and a new restroom was completed that May. It is a station on the Dosan Line located at Higashigumi, Sakawa-chō, Takaoka District, Kōchi Prefecture; its station number is K15, at an elevation of 100 m.

Notes

At the site of the Tosa Lime Industry dedicated line, abolished in 1992, structures, railway ties, and spilled limestone still remain today, allowing visitors to trace the vestiges of the abandoned line.
