History
Tendai Station opened on 12 June 1991 on Line 2 of the Chiba Urban Monorail, 2.5 km from the line's Chiba terminus. Its elevated platforms sit above National Route 126 in a quiet residential district of Inage Ward. PASMO use began at the station on 14 March 2009. A station building, skip Tendai, was developed by JR East Urban Development on the former JR Tendai company-housing site to the east of the platforms. The surrounding area, west of the platforms toward Nishi-Chiba, is a designated educational district crowded with universities and schools.
Notes
Tendai is an unstaffed station; in fiscal 2023 it averaged 2,021 boarding passengers a day, seventh busiest of the Chiba Urban Monorail's eighteen stations.
