History
Tenma-cho is the second of the stops on the Hiroden Main Line to carry the name, which has been held by three separate stops in this short stretch of line. A first Tenma-cho opened on 8 December 1912 at a different location when the line through this district came into service; that stop was closed and replaced around 1917 by the present (second) Tenma-cho, which was renamed Nishi-tenma-machi around 1922 when a separate Tenmabashi stop took the former position. The Tenmabashi stop in turn became the third Tenma-cho around 1929 before being abolished in May 1942. Service was suspended after the 6 August 1945 atomic bombing and resumed on the Nishi-tenma-machi - Koi section on 9 August; on 9 September that year the stop reverted from Nishi-tenma-machi to its present Tenma-cho name. Station number M15 was assigned in October 1996 and changed to M14 on 3 August 2025.
Notes
The stop name Tenma-cho has been carried by three separate Hiroden stops in this short stretch of the Main Line, and the present stop swapped names with the neighbouring Kanon-machi stop between the wars: renamed Nishi-tenma-machi around 1922, it became Kanon-machi around 1929, reverted to Nishi-tenma-machi on 11 July 1936, and finally took the name Tenma-cho on 9 September 1945.
