History

Tarumi Station opened on 1 July 1888 in what is now Tarumi Ward of Kobe. It is served by the San'yō Main Line, which is also marketed under the "JR Kobe Line" service brand, and the station passed to JR West at the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. In March 2018 station numbering was introduced and Tarumi was assigned JR-A70. The elevated station has two opposed side platforms with two main tracks, plus two bypass tracks that allow Special Rapid trains to pass the station.
