Location

History

Tanagawa Station opened on 1 June 1944 under Kinki Nippon Railway, as the western terminus of what is now the Nankai Electric Railway Tanagawa Line. The line was transferred to Nankai on 1 June 1947, taking the station with it. The station was destaffed on 10 October 2023. Tanagawa sits 2.6 km from Misaki-kōen at the opposing end of the line, with the designation NK41-3. It is a ground-level stub-end station with two platform faces but only one track: the southern, island platform is the one still in use, while the platform on the far side of the track is disused. When the through express connecting with the Awaji-Island ferries was withdrawn, all but two cars' length of the platform was fenced off; the southern track (No. 1) was then taken out of use when the line was singled, and that side of the platform fenced off as well, leaving the former No. 2 track on the north side as the only one in service. The station building stands at the western, bumper-stop end of the platform.

Notes

Tanagawa is the westernmost railway station in Osaka Prefecture.
