History

Tamachi Station is a tram stop on the Okayama Electric Tramway's Seikibashi Line in Kita-ku, Okayama, numbered S05. It opened on 18 March 1928 as Renshoji-mae, when the line's Yanagawa–Daiunji-cho (now Daiunji-mae) section began operating. It was renamed Shiyakusho-mae in June 1942, then closed along with the rest of the line after the June 1945 Okayama air raid; unlike the line, which resumed in 1946, this stop stayed shut until August 1954, reopening as Chutetsu Basu-mae. It took its current name, Tamachi, in July 1985. The stop has an island platform serving two tracks, and since December 2016 its signage has also referenced the nearby Kawasaki Medical School General Medical Center, which opened close by that year.

Notes

Although the rest of the Seikibashi Line reopened in 1946, a year after wartime bombing forced its suspension, this one stop stayed closed for eight more years and only reappeared, under yet another name, in 1954.
