Location

History

Tama-Dōbutsukōen Station opened on 29 April 1964 as the terminus of the Keiō Teito Electric Railway's Tama-Dōbutsukōen Line (today the Keiō Dōbutsuen Line), beside Tama Zoo, from which it takes its name. The Tama Toshi Monorail Line reached the same site on 10 January 2000, turning the station into a junction between the two operators. The Keiō side was given the secondary name "Keiō Rail-Land" on 10 October 2013, when the adjoining railway museum of that name reopened on the other side of the station building. Monorail station numbering placed it at TT05 in February 2018, and the Keiō station became unstaffed on 16 February 2024.

Notes

The Keiō Rail-Land, the railway museum that gave the Keiō station its secondary name in October 2013, adjoins the station building; its vehicle display area occupies what was previously the station forecourt, where car No. 2410 of the Deha 2400 series stood on display from 1969 to 1996.
