History

Takinoma Station opened on 20 April 1963 as a station of Japanese National Railways' Gonō Line in Hachimori Town, Yamamoto District, Akita Prefecture (now Happō Town). It is a petition station: following the introduction of diesel-railcar service on the Gonō Line in April 1959, the Takinoma district petitioned for a simplified stopping place, and Hachimori Town, the local hamlets concerned, and the Hachimori Fishery Cooperative bore the construction costs. It was unstaffed from opening, and became a station of East Japan Railway Company (JR East) at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. On 1 April 2020, with Noshiro Station's move to contracted staffing, management was transferred to Higashi-Noshiro Station, and the eki-net Q-ticket service began on 1 October 2024. It is an at-grade station with a single side platform serving one track, with only a waiting room on the platform and no station building.

Notes

The 1963 opening resulted from a local petition: Hachimori Town bore 950,000 yen of the construction cost, the local hamlets concerned and the Hachimori Fishery Cooperative together bore 600,000 yen, and the site and access road were donated by the Takinoma hamlet.
