History

Takatsuki-shi Station opened on 16 January 1928 as Takatsuki-machi Station, the temporary terminus of the Shin-Keihan Railway's extension from Awaji, and lost terminus status when the line reached Kyoto Saiin on 1 November the same year. The operator became Keihan Electric Railway in 1930; the host town's promotion to city status produced the present name on 1 January 1943, and on 1 October that year the station passed to Keihanshin Express Electric Railway, today's Hankyū. The continuous grade-separation project that elevated the station to its present four-track, two-island layout ran from 1981 to 1994. The station became a stop for all scheduled trains on 2 March 1997, and station number HK-72 was assigned on 21 December 2013.

Notes

On regular schedules, Takatsuki-shi is the eastern limit for Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line rolling stock working through onto the Hankyū Kyoto Line; the Tengachaya through services that continue east past the station are all worked with Hankyū rolling stock.
