History
Takatsu Station opened on 15 July 1927 as a stop on the Tamagawa Electric Railway's Mizonokuchi Line, in what is now Futako, Takatsu-ku, Kawasaki. On 1 July 1943 its gauge was changed from 1,372 mm to 1,067 mm and it was transferred to the Tokyu Oimachi Line. Elevation work began in 1972 and finished in March 1977, converting the station into an elevated stop with opposing side platforms. A further rebuild between November 2007 and July 2009 added two through tracks and an east exit as the Oimachi Line was extended to Mizonokuchi. Today the station, numbered DT09, serves the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line, 10.7 kilometers from Shibuya, plus some local Oimachi Line trains running through toward Mizonokuchi.
Notes
Former professional baseball player Shingo Takatsu, who shares his surname with the station, became manager of the Tokyo Yakult Swallows starting in the 2020 season, prompting a run of station-tied collaboration merchandise.
