History

Takasagochō Station is a stop on the Iyotetsu Jōhoku Line in Takasagochō 3-chōme, Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, with stop number 11. It is used by city tram (Matsuyama City Line) routes 1 and 2. It opened on 3 April 1927 as Jogakkō-nishi Station. On 1 August 1952, it was renamed Kita-Misake Station following the merger of high schools. On 1 January 1967, it was renamed to its current name, Takasagochō Station, after the station's address changed with the implementation of a residential address display system. Around 1978, the platform was relocated from its former position diagonally across the level crossing to its present position.

Notes

Since its opening in 1927, Takasagochō Station has borne three names in succession: Jogakkō-nishi, then Kita-Misake, then Takasagochō. The 1952 renaming stemmed directly from school-system reform and the merger of high schools, and the 1967 renaming from the implementation of the residential address system — both driven by institutional changes in the surrounding municipality.
