Location

History

Takarachō Station opened on 28 February 1963 as part of Toei Subway Line 1, which was renamed the Asakusa Line on 1 July 1978. The station takes its name from a Chūō-ward neighborhood named in 1931 as an auspicious place-name; that town disappeared in 1978 when it was merged into the neighbouring Kyōbashi address block, but the station retained the older label. PASMO acceptance began on 18 March 2007. Its two side platforms lie directly beneath the Shōwa-dōri underpass, and later entrances improved barrier-free access to both platforms: the elevator-only A7, serving platform 2, in December 2010, and A8, opening directly onto platform 1, in December 2011.

Notes

The neighbourhood name "Takarachō" was erased from the address map in 1978 when it was merged into Kyōbashi, but the station preserves the old place-name.
