History

Takanomiya Station opened on 5 April 1928 as a stop on what is now the Kita-Matsue Line, located in the city of Matsue, Shimane Prefecture. The station was made unstaffed in November 1979, and on 1 April 2006 the railway business passed from the parent company Ichibata Dentetsu (一畑電気鉄道) to a newly established operating subsidiary, Ichibata Electric Railway (Ichibata Densha), when the parent transitioned to a holding-company structure. The stop, numbered 16, lies 22.5 km from the line’s terminus at Dentetsu-Izumoshi and consists of a single side platform serving one bidirectional track; only local trains call here.

Notes

In fiscal 2019 the station was used by an average of just 24 passengers a day.
