History
Taga Taisha-mae Station opened on 8 March 1914 as Taga Station, the terminus of the Ohmi Railway Taga Line in what is now Taga town, Shiga Prefecture. The Takamiya to Taga section was electrified on 12 March 1925. From 10 November 1960 the station handled limestone traffic between the Tōa (later Sumitomo) Cement works at Taga and the Nozawa Cement works at Hikone, and from 1974 it served a Kirin brewery siding, but the cement shipments ended in March 1986. The station was renamed Taga Taisha-mae on 1 April 1998, marking its role as the gateway to Taga Taisha, and the present community-house station building was completed on 19 December 2002. Staffed operations ended on 1 April 2010 and the station has been unattended since.
Notes
On 4 November 2020 the station concluded a sister-station agreement with Wanhua Station in Taipei, the nearest station to Bangka Lungshan Temple. Wanhua is operated by the Taiwan Railways Administration, which has a friendship partnership with Seibu Railway.
