History

Suzurandai-nishiguchi Station opened on 28 December 1937 as Miki Electric Railway's "Suzuran Dansu Horu-mae" (in front of the Suzuran Dance Hall) Station. It was renamed "Obu-nishiguchi" Station on 22 December 1942, and became a station of Shin'yu Miki Electric Railway (later Kobe Electric Railway) through the merger with Kobe Arima Electric Railway on 9 January 1947. It was renamed to its current name, Suzurandai-nishiguchi, on 1 September 1962. Its station number is KB41. It is a ground-level station with a single platform serving one track, with gradients of 50 per mille on both approaches; the car at the Shinkaichi end of a train stopped at the platform stands partly on the graded section. It is a patrol-staffed station equipped with a remote station-management system linked over a lineside fibre-optic network.

Notes

The dance hall that gave the station its opening-era name, "Suzuran Dansu Hōru-mae," burned down in 1938, shortly after the station opened. The distance to the neighboring Nishi-Suzurandai Station is only 0.5 km, the shortest inter-station distance on the Ao Line.
