History
Suzaka Station opened on 10 June 1922 as a station of the Katō Railway when the line from Yashiro reached Suzaka. The route on to Shinshū-Nakano followed on 26 March 1923, and in September 1926 a merger with the Nagano Electric Railway created the present operator. From 1922 to 2012 the station was also a junction for the line to Yashiro, known from 2002 as the Yashiro Line and discontinued on 1 April 2012. Today the station has one side platform and two island platforms serving five tracks beneath an elevated station building, and acts as the operational hub of the Nagano Electric Railway.
Notes
Suzaka is one of only two Nagano Electric Railway stations where trains overnight, the other being Shinshu-Nakano.
