History

Suya opened on the Kumamoto Electric Railway Kikuchi Line on 26 August 1913. It is a ground-level stop with a single side platform and no station building, the platform sheltered only by a basic rain canopy. Kumamoto regional IC Card service via the Kumamon IC Card began on 1 April 2015, and the station was assigned the number KD14 when station numbering was introduced on 1 October 2019. The stop sits in Kōshi city, takes its name from the former Suya Castle of feudal lord Suya Ichizō, and offers a single track with an IC reader on the platform but no other facilities or staff.
